Nattai is rural bush country on the north-western edge of Mittagong, backing onto the Nattai River and national park — large holdings, long driveways and private lines running through heavy timber. High Demand Electrical is a Level 2 ASP accredited contractor (Licence 397193C) making storm-damaged private poles safe out here and restoring supply on the Endeavour Energy network.

Storm Damage Power Pole Repair in Nattai
Out on acreage, a failed pole is often well away from the house and behind a treeline. The conductor stays live until it is isolated properly, and nobody may realise a span is on the ground until someone drives or walks into it. That makes any pole failure on a rural block an emergency, not a maintenance item.
We work across Nattai, Mittagong, Braemar, Colo Vale, Hill Top and Yerrinbool with 24/7 emergency power pole service and on-site fallen pole make-safe.
How Urgent Is Your Storm-Damaged Pole?
Why Nattai Storms Are Hard on Private Poles
Nattai sits where the Southern Highlands tableland breaks away into the Nattai River valley and the rugged bush country beyond it. That edge is exposed: cold fronts come through strong and sustained, the wet lasts for weeks, and heavy winter frost is routine. Frost is what quietly finishes hardwood — moisture in the surface checks freezes, expands, and opens the grain a little more each winter until decay is working its way down the shaft to the ground line, out of sight.
The bush is the other half of it. Properties here run through mature native timber, and after a long wet the ground releases root plates and drops heavy limbs across whatever is beneath them. On a rural block that is usually a long private span. Holdings are large, dwellings sit well back from the road, and supply typically comes off the network at the boundary before crossing the property on several owner-maintained poles to reach the house, the shed and the pump.
Nattai is on the Endeavour Energy network. Endeavour maintains the numbered poles along the road. Every pole past your point of supply is a private pole and the owner is responsible for it — which surprises people when the failure is 200 metres from the house and Endeavour will not attend it.

What Happens When Your Nattai Pole Comes Down
- Keep clear and report. Stay at least 8 metres from any conductor on the ground, keep stock, vehicles and people away, and report live wires to Endeavour Energy on 131 003. Then call us.
- Emergency make-safe. We attend, isolate the private line, secure or lower what is unstable, and clear the hazard — including down long bush driveways and out into paddocks.
- Whole-run assessment. We check every pole on the private line, not just the failed one — butts below ground, cross arms, stays, spans and attachments.
- Repair or replacement. Straightening and re-staying where the timber is sound, or full replacement and service cable renewal where it is not.
- Reconnection. We handle the disconnection, reconnection and Endeavour Energy notification in-house as a Level 2 ASP contractor.

Storm Damage We Repair Across Nattai
Bush acreage produces its own list of failures, and this is what we are called out to here.
- Trees and heavy limbs down across private spans — the most common cause of damage in this country.
- Poles snapped by falling timber — replaced and the span re-tensioned properly.
- Ground-line rot and frost damage — decay that has been working for years before the storm exposes it.
- Leaning poles in saturated bush soil — assessed for straightening and re-staying first.
- Mid-run failures a long way from the house — house, shed and pump all off at once.
- Damaged consumer mains and switchboards — renewed with consumer mains installation before reconnection.
Insurance & What’s Usually Covered
What's typically NOT covered: wear-and-tear, gradual rot or rust, or failure caused by a pre-existing defect notice you hadn't rectified. Our written cause report helps insurers distinguish sudden events from gradual failure — and we handle insurance claims every week.
FAQs
Our supply crosses the property on four poles. Are they all ours?
Yes — everything past your point of supply at the boundary is a private installation. Endeavour Energy is responsible only for the numbered poles along the road. On acreage that means the whole run to the house, the shed and any secondary dwelling is the owner's to inspect, maintain and repair.
Should the rest of the line be inspected after one pole fails?
It is the sensible move. Poles on the same private run were installed together, in the same soil, under the same trees, and they weather at much the same rate. We inspect the full line while we are on site and report on which poles are sound, which are marginal and which should be replaced now, so you can plan the work rather than call us out again after the next front.

Will insurance cover a pole this far from the house?
Some policies cover private poles and some limit cover by distance from the dwelling or exclude poles altogether, so it is worth checking your wording. We cannot advise on your particular cover, but we can provide a written report on the damage, its cause and the scope of works, which is what an assessor generally wants to see. Photograph the failure before anything is moved if it is safe to get near it.
Our line goes down every couple of seasons. What are the options?
Two things usually help. Re-poling the run in composite removes rot, frost damage and termites from the equation, and it holds up better under repeated wind loading. Where the line runs under heavy timber, an overhead to underground conversion takes the span out from under the trees entirely. Underground is a bigger job, but on a bush block that keeps losing supply it is worth pricing.
How quickly can you reach a Nattai property?
We run 24/7 emergency call-outs and can usually be on site within a couple of hours. Because access matters out here, tell us on the phone where the failure is, how far it is from the road and whether a truck can get down the driveway, so we bring the right equipment the first time.
