The power is out but the pole looks undamaged. Do we still need a Level 2 electrician?
Most likely yes. Storm faults often sit in the fittings rather than the pole — a cracked insulator, a service cable partly pulled out of its termination, or a cross arm that has moved. If the street lights and your neighbours are on and you are not, the fault is on the private side of the connection, which is Level 2 work.
Will insurance cover the replacement?
It depends on your policy, and we cannot speak for your insurer. Many building policies do consider storm damage to a private pole. What we can supply is a written condition report describing the damage, the probable cause and the scope of works, which is generally what an assessor will ask to see. Photograph the pole before anything is moved if it is safe to do so.
