Fairfield takes the full run of the south-west storm corridor, and its older housing carries a large number of private power poles that have never been replaced. High Demand Electrical is a Level 2 ASP accredited contractor (Licence 397193C) working right across Fairfield and the surrounding suburbs — making storm-damaged poles safe, repairing or replacing them, and reconnecting your supply to the Endeavour Energy network.

Storm Damage Power Pole Repair in Fairfield
A storm-damaged private pole cannot be left. Once it moves, the service line is loaded in a direction it was never built for and the strain travels through the point of attachment into the meter box and consumer mains. What looks like a pole still standing is often a pole being held up by the very conductors that should be hanging from it.
We cover Fairfield, Fairfield East, Fairfield West, Fairfield Heights, Canley Vale and Yennora with 24/7 emergency power pole service, on-site fallen pole make-safe, and emergency pole replacement.
How Urgent Is Your Storm-Damaged Pole?
Why Fairfield Sees So Much Storm Pole Damage
Fairfield sits in the middle of the Cumberland Plain, on the track that severe cells follow as they move east from the ranges through spring and summer. Hail, intense rainfall and a sudden wind change at the storm front are the standard pattern here, and it is the wind change that finds the weakness in an old pole — the loading comes from a direction the timber has never had to resist.
The housing is dense and predominantly older, with plenty of properties still running off the private pole installed when the house was built. Hardwood that has been in the ground that long fails at and below the ground line, which is precisely where nobody can inspect it from the surface. Fairfield also has a very large body of long-term rental stock, and private poles on tenanted properties are the least maintained of any — tenants assume the network owns them and owners rarely see them.
Fairfield is supplied by Endeavour Energy. Endeavour maintains the numbered street poles and the mains along the street; the pole on the property, carrying your service line, belongs to the owner and is the owner's to repair. Owners and agents who want to get ahead of it can book a pole inspection and condition report before storm season rather than after.
Choose Your Situation — See What We Do
What Happens When Your Fairfield Pole Comes Down
- Keep everyone at least 8 metres clear of the pole and any wire on the ground, and treat every conductor as live. If lines are down or arcing, report it to Endeavour Energy on 131 003, then call us.
- We attend and make the site safe. As a Level 2 ASP we isolate and disconnect the service, secure or lower unstable sections and clear the hazard from driveways and access paths.
- We assess the whole installation — butt condition below the ground line, cross arms, stays, service cable, point of attachment, meter box and mains.
- We repair or replace, from straightening and re-footing to a full emergency pole replacement.
- We reconnect your supply and handle the network notification to Endeavour in-house, with a written report for the owner or managing agent where one is required.

Storm Damage We Repair Across Fairfield
The following covers most of what we attend on Fairfield properties after a storm.
- Poles snapped at ground level — rot at the butt letting go under a sudden wind change, usually bringing the service line down.
- Leaning poles — footings moved after intense rainfall, with conductors carrying the load.
- Hail-damaged insulators and fittings — cracked or shattered components that leave the installation unsafe.
- Broken cross arms — repaired with cross-arm replacement where the shaft is still sound.
- Torn point of attachment — brackets pulled from tired fascia timber, taking gutter and eaves with them.
- Damaged service cable and mains — handled with service cable replacement or new consumer mains.
Insurance & What’s Usually Covered
What's typically NOT covered: wear-and-tear, gradual rot or rust, or failure caused by a pre-existing defect notice you hadn't rectified. Our written cause report helps insurers distinguish sudden events from gradual failure — and we handle insurance claims every week.
FAQs
Who has to pay for a storm-damaged private pole?
The property owner. A pole on the property carrying the service line to the house is private, and its repair and maintenance are the owner's responsibility. Endeavour Energy is responsible for the numbered street poles and the mains along the street. It is the single most common misunderstanding we deal with after a storm in this area.
How soon can you attend a Fairfield emergency?
We take emergency calls 24 hours a day and Fairfield is part of our normal working area, so for a genuine hazard we can usually be there within a couple of hours. In a widespread storm we work by risk, attending live wires and fallen poles first. Call as soon as you notice it rather than waiting for daylight.

Is a private pole covered by home or landlord insurance?
Some policies cover it as a structure on the property and some do not, and exclusions for rot or age-related failure are common. We provide written condition reports and photographs from the attendance, which is generally what an insurer wants to assess a claim. It is worth checking the policy wording before authorising the work.
We are a strata property. Who arranges the pole repair?
On most strata schemes the private pole and the service to the building are common property, so the owners corporation or strata manager arranges and approves the work. We deal with strata managers regularly and can supply a scope and condition report for approval. If there is an active hazard we make it safe first and handle approvals afterwards.
There is a tree limb across the service line. Can we get it cut off?
Not until the line is isolated. A branch touching a conductor can be live, and moving it can drop the span or pull the pole over. Keep everyone 8 metres clear, hold off any tree contractor, and call us to make the line safe. Once that is done the branch can be removed without risk.
