Keep at least 8 metres away and do not touch the branch, the tree or anything against them, even if the power appears to be off — a limb on a conductor can energise the tree. Do not try to pull it off with a rope or a pole. Report it, then call us to isolate the service, remove the load safely and repair the damage.
The same pole has been damaged in successive storms. What are the options?
Repeat damage usually means the pole or the span is at the end of its useful life rather than that you have had bad luck. Options include a stronger pole with better staying, re-routing or shortening the run, or removing the overhead span entirely with an overhead to underground conversion. Is composite worth the extra over timber?
It depends on the site and how long you want the pole to last. Composite does not rot at the ground line, is not attacked by termites, and does not check or split in extreme heat, which is exactly what finishes off timber poles in this part of Sydney.
