Endeavour Energy is responsible for the numbered poles in the street and the mains along the road. The dividing point is your point of attachment — everything past it belongs to the property owner.

No. A lean means the pole has already lost its footing or its strength at the ground line, and the service line is now holding it up. In saturated ground it can go over with no further wind at all. Keep clear of the base, keep children and pets away, and call us to assess it.

Will my pole need replacing, or can it be repaired?
That is decided at the ground line. If the timber below the surface is sound and the pole has only moved or lost a stay, it can be straightened, re-plumbed and re-stayed. If the butt has rotted, the pole is split through, or a break has taken out section, replacement is the only safe answer. We dig down and check rather than judging it from the footpath.
A tree branch has come down on my service line. What should I do?
Stay well back — at least 8 metres — and do not attempt to move the branch, even if the power seems to be off. A limb resting on a conductor can energise the whole tree. Report it, then call us to make it safe. We remove the load, check the cable, cross arm and point of attachment, and repair whatever the branch has damaged.
