Storm Damage

Storm Damage Power Pole Repair

East coast lows, summer squalls, fallen trees, hail — Sydney storms are hard on private power poles. We repair, replace, and handle the insurance paperwork, Sydney-wide.

Typical storm damage to private poles

Sydney's storm season runs November to March, and every major event generates callouts across the city. The private pole on your property is the most vulnerable piece of electrical infrastructure you own — it's outdoors, fully exposed, and carrying live voltage.

We've handled every kind of pole storm damage: fallen trees, lightning strikes, wind shear, flying debris, and water-table subsidence after heavy rain. Whatever the cause, the repair path is always the same: make safe, document for insurance, replace or repair, re-energise.

Common storm damage we repair

Pole down or leaning

Fallen tree, wind load, or base subsidence after heavy rain. Usually requires replacement.

Cross-arm broken

Timber cross-arm snapped or torn off. Often repairable on the existing pole.

Service cable damage

Cable pulled off the pole or torn by a falling branch. Replacement of the cable from pole to house.

Lightning strike

Pole scorched, hardware fused, or internal wiring damaged. Often needs full replacement plus meter/switchboard checks.

Our storm-damage process

  1. Emergency dispatch. Onsite fast after major weather events — usually within hours.
  2. Network coordination. Ausgrid or Endeavour Energy isolates the street-side supply before we work.
  3. Photographs and report. Full insurance-ready documentation of damage and likely cause.
  4. Make safe. Secure the site, cut back damaged cable, isolate your switchboard if required.
  5. Claim support. Written cause-of-damage report submitted to your insurer to unlock claim approval.
  6. Permanent repair. Replace pole, renew cable, lodge compliance paperwork with the network.

Insurance & what's usually covered

Most Sydney home and contents policies cover sudden storm damage to private poles, including the pole, hardware, service cable, and supply restoration. You pay your excess; the insurer pays the rest.

What's typically NOT covered: wear-and-tear, gradual rot or rust, or failure caused by a pre-existing defect notice you hadn't rectified. Our written cause report helps insurers distinguish sudden events from gradual failure — and we handle insurance claims every week.
