Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

By choosing High Demand Power Poles, you're making a proactive decision to ensure your property’s power infrastructure is safe, compliant, and future-ready. Still have questions? Here are some of the most common answers.

How often should a private power pole be inspected?

As a general guide, timber poles benefit from a condition inspection every 3-5 years, while steel and composite poles can typically go longer between assessments. Poles in coastal, bushfire-prone or termite-active areas, or those over 20 years old, should be checked more frequently. If you've had storm damage, received a defect notice, or are buying or selling a property, an inspection should happen before that event, not on a fixed schedule.

What's the difference between this and your pre-sale pole inspection?

Our pre-sale power pole inspection is tailored specifically to property transactions, with a report format designed for buyers, sellers, agents and solicitors. Pole inspection & condition reporting is our broader service for ongoing asset management, insurance, defect notice response, landlord/strata obligations, and general peace of mind, outside of a sale. The inspection methods are similar, but the report content and purpose differ.

Does drilling or coring damage the pole?

Internal drilling uses small-diameter test holes to check for hidden decay behind sound-looking timber. Any test holes are treated and sealed after inspection and do not weaken a structurally sound pole. Drilling is only carried out where visual and sounding checks indicate it's needed, not on every pole as a default.

How long does an inspection and report take?

A standard single-pole inspection is usually completed on-site within 30-60 minutes. Your written condition report, including photographs, defect ratings and remedial recommendations, is typically provided within 1-2 business days. Urgent reports for defect notices or settlement deadlines can often be turned around faster on request.

What happens if the inspection finds a defect?

Your condition report will clearly rate the severity of any defect found and outline recommended next steps, whether that's monitoring, a targeted repair such as cross arm or hardware replacement, or full pole replacement. As a licensed Level 2 ASP, we can carry out any recommended remedial work ourselves, with a transparent, itemised quote.

"Chris was the professional, punctual and his services are exceptional. Chris re-wired the entire property, chased the electrical work in the bathroom and kitchen areas, left a clean and tidy environment and his open communication and dialogue was a welcomed experience.

When he quoted an arrival time, he was there. He talked me through what he was doing, and provided feedback/suggestions on how to tackle any issues. I felt part of the process, as opposed to being another Customer.

A pleasure to deal with, and I recommend his services. I'll be definitely calling him again with any electrical work I need done."
