Are composite poles a better option on a bush block?
They are worth considering. Composite poles do not rot at the ground line and are not attacked by termites, both of which are constant problems in damp, heavily treed country like this. Hardwood remains cheaper up front and is perfectly serviceable when it is sound and maintained. We install both and will recommend based on span length, access and how exposed the run is.
Only one pole failed. Should we look at the others?
It is worth doing. Poles on the same private run were usually installed together, in the same soil, under the same trees, so when one gives way the rest are often close behind. We inspect the whole line and give you a written report on which poles are sound, which are marginal and which should be replaced now, so you can plan rather than repeat the exercise next season.
