Power Pole Straightening

Leaning private pole but the timber or steel is still sound? In the right situations, straightening is a faster and cheaper fix than full replacement. We assess, straighten, and re-brace — across Sydney.

When straightening is the right call

Not every leaning pole is a replacement job. If the pole itself is still structurally sound — timber hasn't rotted, steel hasn't rusted through — and the lean is caused by soil movement, hardware failure, or a one-off event, straightening can save you thousands.

A careful onsite assessment tells us whether your pole is a candidate. Generally, straightening is viable on poles under about 20 years old with a sound base and no visible structural damage.

When your pole can be straightened

Soil movement lean

Heavy rain, flooding, or landslip shifted the ground. Pole itself is sound.

Vehicle impact

Car or truck knocked the pole. Shifted but timber/steel is undamaged.

Stay wire failure

Guy wire snapped, rusted through, or was cut. Pole leaning under cable tension.

Young pole, recent lean

Pole less than 20 years old, lean appeared suddenly rather than gradually.

When you need replacement instead

We'll tell you if straightening isn't a safe option. Replacement is required when:

  • The pole has base rot (timber) or base corrosion (steel)
  • There are visible cracks or holes in the pole wall
  • The pole is over 25 years old with a gradually-increasing lean
  • The pole has been hit so hard it's structurally compromised
  • The cross-arm, insulators, or pole-top hardware are badly damaged

Our straightening process

  1. Onsite assessment. Base condition, hardware, soil, cable tension, history.
  2. Fixed-price quote. Straightening or replacement — whichever is safer for your pole.
  3. Network isolation. Planned outage coordinated with Ausgrid or Endeavour Energy.
  4. Straighten & stabilise. Crane/winch to plumb, then re-concrete footing and replace stay wires as needed.
  5. Hardware check. Renew any damaged bolts, insulators, cross-arm fittings while the pole is accessible.
  6. Re-energise. Reconnect, test, submit compliance paperwork.
