Green Valley sits on open ground in the Liverpool area with little in the way of windbreak, which is why downbursts coming across the Cumberland Plain take out private power poles here so regularly. High Demand Electrical is a Level 2 ASP accredited contractor (Licence 397193C) working across Green Valley and the surrounding suburbs — making storm-damaged poles safe, repairing or replacing them, and reconnecting supply to the Endeavour Energy network.

Storm Damage Power Pole Repair in Green Valley
A storm-damaged private pole puts the whole service at risk. Once it leans or drops, the line is loaded in a direction it was never designed for, and the strain carries through the point of attachment into the meter box and consumer mains. On open blocks with long runs to the house, that load can be considerable.
Our crews cover Green Valley, Hinchinbrook, Cecil Hills, Busby, Heckenberg and Miller with 24/7 emergency power pole service, on-site fallen pole make-safe, and same-day pole service.
How Urgent Is Your Storm-Damaged Pole?
Why Green Valley Private Poles Fail in Storms
The land through this part of Liverpool is open and largely flat, and the tree cover is young compared with the older suburbs to the east. That means very little to slow a downburst as it comes across the plain — the wind arrives at ground level with its full force and hits every property in a street at the same moment. Poles fail here from raw wind loading far more often than from a falling limb.
The suburb mixes original estate housing with a lot of later rebuilding and subdivision, and private poles range from decades-old hardwood to relatively recent installations. The older timber rots below the ground line where it cannot be inspected from above, and on exposed ground it does not take much of a gust to finish it. Longer private runs across open blocks add to the loading on both the pole and the service cable.
Green Valley is on the Endeavour Energy network. Endeavour is responsible for the numbered street poles and the mains along the street; the pole on your own property, with your service line attached, is yours to maintain and repair. A pole inspection and condition report will tell you which one you have and what condition it is in.

What Happens When Your Green Valley Pole Comes Down
- Keep everyone at least 8 metres from the pole and any wire on the ground, and treat every conductor as live. If lines are down or arcing, report it to Endeavour Energy on 131 003, then call us.
- We attend and make the site safe — isolating and disconnecting the service at the point of attachment, securing what is unstable and clearing the hazard.
- We assess the whole run, not just the pole: butt and footing, cross arms, stays, the length and sag of the private span, service cable and point of attachment.
- We repair or replace, from straightening and re-footing through to an emergency pole replacement properly sized for the span.
- We reconnect the supply and handle the network notification with Endeavour ourselves.

Storm Damage We Repair Across Green Valley
These are the storm failures we attend most often on Green Valley properties.
- Poles snapped by wind loading — rotted hardwood on exposed blocks with nothing to break the gust.
- Leaning poles — footings shifted in saturated ground after a heavy downpour.
- Overloaded long private spans — stretched conductors and pulled terminations on runs across open blocks, needing service cable replacement.
- Broken cross arms — repaired with cross-arm replacement where the shaft is sound.
- Point of attachment damage — brackets pulled from fascias by wind loading on a long span.
- Damaged consumer mains — runs between pole and switchboard replaced with new consumer mains.
Insurance & What’s Usually Covered
What's typically NOT covered: wear-and-tear, gradual rot or rust, or failure caused by a pre-existing defect notice you hadn't rectified. Our written cause report helps insurers distinguish sudden events from gradual failure — and we handle insurance claims every week.
FAQs
Is the pole on my property mine to fix?
If it stands on your land and your service line runs from it to the house, yes. That is a private pole and the owner is responsible for maintaining and repairing it. Endeavour Energy owns the numbered poles in the street and the mains along it, so their crews attend the street network and leave private poles to a Level 2 ASP.
My pole is on a lean. Is it safe to leave until the weekend?
No. A lean means the footing has already moved or the butt has failed, and the conductors are taking load they were not designed for. On exposed ground like Green Valley the next gust front is what usually finishes it. Keep clear of the area beneath it and get us out the same day.

We have a long run from the pole to the house. Does that matter?
It does. A long private span picks up more wind loading and sags further in the wet, which puts extra strain on the pole, the cable and the point of attachment. When we attend a failure on a long run we look at the whole span and the pole size rather than just the broken component, so the repair holds up next season.
The pole looks fine but there is no power to the house.
That usually points to the connections rather than the pole. A pulled service cable, a shifted point of attachment or burnt terminations at the pole top will cut supply while the pole looks perfectly normal. If the neighbours have power and you do not, the fault is on your side of the network and we can attend and restore it.
We have a defect notice from Endeavour. Can you sort it out?
Yes. A defect notice gives a rectification deadline and supply can be disconnected if it is missed, so it should not be left. Send it through and we will complete the defect rectification and notify Endeavour that the work is done.
