Mount Druitt takes the full force of the storms that sweep across the Cumberland Plain, and after every serious cell we are out replacing private poles that have finally given up. High Demand Electrical is a Level 2 ASP accredited contractor (Licence 397193C) working across Mount Druitt and the surrounding Blacktown suburbs — make-safe, repair, replacement and reconnection to the Endeavour Energy network.

Storm Damage Power Pole Repair in Mount Druitt
A private pole that has come down is not something to work around until the weekend. The conductor above it stays energised until someone with the right accreditation isolates it, and the whole run from the pole to your meter box has to be checked before power goes back on.
We cover Mount Druitt, Whalan, Tregear, Emerton, Rooty Hill and Minchinbury with 24/7 emergency power pole service and same-day attendance for fallen pole make-safe work.
How Urgent Is Your Storm-Damaged Pole?
Why Mount Druitt Private Poles Fail in Storms
Mount Druitt sits on flat, open Cumberland Plain country between South Creek and Eastern Creek, and it is one of the hottest parts of the Sydney basin in summer. Both facts matter. The flat ground gives a storm downburst a clean run at the suburb, so wind arrives as a sudden sideways shove rather than a build-up; and the extreme summer heat spends years drying hardwood poles out, splitting them along the grain and opening a path for water and rot.
The suburb was built out largely in the 1960s and 70s on wide blocks, and a great many of those properties still run off the original private pole. What fails is rarely visible. The shaft can look weathered but solid at head height while the butt, sitting in soil that goes from bone dry to saturated within a day, has lost most of its section. When a storm cell drops a downburst and a wet lawn softens the ground, that is when it goes over.
The area is supplied by Endeavour Energy. The numbered poles running down the street are Endeavour's responsibility. The pole standing on your block, carrying the service line to your meter box, is a private pole and the owner is responsible for keeping it safe — including after a storm.
Choose Your Situation — See What We Do
What Happens When Your Mount Druitt Pole Comes Down
- Keep clear. Stay at least 8 metres away from any wire on the ground, keep children and pets well inside, and report live conductors to Endeavour Energy on 131 003. Then call us.
- Emergency make-safe. We attend, isolate the supply, secure the pole or bring down what is left of it, and clear the immediate danger.
- Assessment. We check the butt below ground line, cross arms, stays, service cable and point of attachment, and give you a plain answer on what has to happen.
- Repair or replacement. Straightening and re-staying where the pole is recoverable, or an emergency pole replacement where it is not.
- Reconnection. We disconnect, reconnect and notify Endeavour Energy ourselves as a Level 2 ASP, so you are not coordinating between trades to get the lights back on.

Storm Damage We Repair Across Mount Druitt
Across Mount Druitt the same failures come up again and again after a big cell.
- Poles snapped at ground level — dry-rotted butts that finally let go under wind load.
- Leaning poles on soft ground — common after a downpour followed by a gust front.
- Broken cross arms — from branches dropping onto the span, repaired with cross-arm replacement where the pole is sound.
- Service cable damage — torn, chafed or pulled out at the termination.
- Point of attachment failures — the bracket ripped out of eaves or brickwork.
- Consumer mains and meter box damage — inspected and made compliant before reconnection.
Insurance & What’s Usually Covered
What's typically NOT covered: wear-and-tear, gradual rot or rust, or failure caused by a pre-existing defect notice you hadn't rectified. Our written cause report helps insurers distinguish sudden events from gradual failure — and we handle insurance claims every week.
FAQs
Is the pole on my Mount Druitt block my responsibility?
If it stands on your land and carries the service line to your meter box, yes — it is a private pole and the owner maintains it. Endeavour Energy is only responsible for the numbered poles in the street. This is the single most common misunderstanding we deal with after a storm.
How soon can you get out to Mount Druitt after a storm?
We take emergency calls 24 hours a day and can usually be on site within a couple of hours. When a storm has gone through the whole of western Sydney at once we prioritise by danger — anything with a live conductor on the ground, or a pole leaning over a footpath or house, gets attended first.

A branch has landed on the wire between the pole and the house. Is that dangerous?
Assume it is. The service line stays live and a wet branch will conduct. Do not touch it, do not try to knock it clear, and keep at least 8 metres away. Call us and we will isolate the supply, remove the limb, and check the cable, cross arm and attachment for damage before reconnecting.
This is the third time our pole has been damaged. Is there a permanent fix?
If a pole keeps taking damage, the answer is usually either a composite replacement that will not rot or split, or getting rid of the overhead span altogether with an overhead to underground conversion. Underground costs more up front but removes the exposure completely. We will walk the site with you and set out both options.
We have a defect notice on our pole. What is involved in clearing it?
A defect notice sets out the fault and a period to fix it. We assess the pole, carry out the rectification work, and lodge the paperwork with Endeavour Energy in-house as a Level 2 ASP contractor. Have the notice handy when you call so we can quote the right scope first time.
