When your private power pole is down, leaning dangerously, or you've been served a defect notice that says "rectify immediately," waiting two weeks isn't an option. Same-day power pole service is real — but only for certain situations and only if you call the right people first. Here's how it actually works in Sydney.

What same-day means in practice

When we say "same-day" for power pole work, we usually mean one of three outcomes:

1. Same-day make-safe — we're on site within a few hours, isolate any live hazards, remove anything at risk of falling, and secure the area. Power may or may not come back on.
2. Same-day temporary supply — if your pole is compromised but your home is still standing, we can rig a safe temporary service so you have power while permanent replacement is scheduled.
3. Same-day replacement (rare) — in urgent cases, and only if everything aligns (pole availability, network approval, crew availability), we can do the full replacement within 24 hours.

When is same-day actually possible?

Same-day is realistic for these situations:

• A fallen or falling pole
• Visible sparking, arcing, or smoking at a pole
• A vehicle or tree has struck the pole
• A defect notice with a "rectify now" timeframe
• No supply to the property caused by private-side damage
• A storm has damaged the service line between pole and house

It's usually NOT needed (and not the cheapest option) for:

• Routine replacements you've known about for months
• Inspections and defect assessments
• Minor repairs that can safely wait a few days

How to get a genuinely fast response

1. Call the distribution network first — Ausgrid on 13 13 88 or Endeavour Energy on 13 10 03. Any live hazard on the street side of your property is their job, and it's free. They'll isolate power so it's safe for us to work.
2. Call a Level 2 electrician — once the network has isolated, a licensed Level 2 electrician is the only person legally allowed to work on the private pole and service cable.
3. Have these ready: your address, your NMI (on your power bill), photos of the damage, your insurer's name and claim number if you've started a claim.

• Assessment and photos for your insurer
• Make-safe: isolating, removing or securing dangerous elements
